Moisture Remediation

Moisture Testing and Moisture Vapor Barriers

The first step in any resinous floor system should be moisture testing. Undiagnosed moisture issues and flooding can destroy many flooring systems. They can emulsify glues, rot wood, and cause both epoxy and polyaspartic coatings to fail. If your floor has excessive amounts of water pushing through the slab, don’t fret because we have solutions. An appropriate moisture vapor barrier can be installed in one day. This prevents flooring failures and will hold back 100% of moisture vapor transmission through the slab. Moisture vapor barriers also provide insurance for your floor against minor flooding, broken pipes and drainage issues should they arise. As a rule of thumb, most houses built before the mid 80s did not have any type of plastic moisture vapor barrier installed under the slab and these homes almost always require a moisture barrier before a resinous flooring application. Even new builds may have areas with moisture issues due to torn poly sheeting under the slab, plumbing leaks or drainage issues surrounding or under the slab.
