We started this year with a bang. In addition to tile removal, this floor had moisture issues and big cracks. After the tile was removed, the remaining thin-set was removed by diamond grinding. A shotblaster was then used to not only provide a good surface profile, but to prep the cracks and low spots that a grinder cannot reach. Once prepped, the cracks were filled using a moisture tolerant, semi-rigid epoxy. Once cured, the entire floor was flooded with a 100% solids epoxy moisture vapor barrier. After curing overnight, a flaked epoxy floor system was installed using 100% solids epoxy, vinyl chips and a chemical and scratch-resistant polyurethane topcoat.
